A Los Angeles County Portrait Session: Kingston

This family is the very reason why I love my {photography} job! Samantha contacted me a week prior to Valentine’s Day, asking for a session of Kingston for a Valentine’s Day card. By the time I heard the voicemail it was already Saturday morning and Trev, Luke and I already had plans for that and the following afternoon. The only opportunity I could squeeze in a quick session was Sunday morning, which fortunately worked for Samantha’s family. Even then I was working against the clock! I woke up at 7am, rushed to get out the door by 7:45am so I could meet the adorable family by 8am. I darted out the door at 7:50am.. only to find the absolute WORST fog EVER outside my doorstep! I was devastated knowing the park wouldn’t be any better (worse, actually)! I’m a natural light photographer and this fog was killing my game (lol). I arrived on location and of course, the sun was no where to be found! I felt so bad for the family, knowing they wouldn’t get the “glowy-photos” she was hoping for.

Within 3 minutes of talking to this lovely couple, it was very evident that they could care less about the lack of gorgeous light and damp ground. The family was so natural behind the lens, I don’t even think rain would’ve hindered their cheerful dispositions! Of course I fell in love with their 13-month-old little boy, Kingston, immediately! He’s not quite walking, yet somehow manages to run from one place to the next! He could’ve been at Disneyland the way he was smiling, giddy and carrying about:)Isn’t he just adorable?! No wonder Samantha and Jesse couldn’t keep their eyes off him! Oh how I love photographing families <3

I love capturing the moments that we cherish, yet will probably forget soon after they’re gone.

how he puts every ounce of trust (eyes closed and everything) into his father, knowing he’ll be there to catch him…

and to give him a little push when necessary.

little looks of wonder and reassurance..

knowing he holds your hand for guidance.

the smiles that brighten our days

and every little facial expression in between!

the expression of curiosity..

and face of innocence; that we may hold on to it for as long as possible.

this family doesn’t need gorgeous light to take amazing photos…

they have love…

and laughter!

and isn’t that better than all the gorgeous light in the world?! (haha! ok, ok, it depends on who you ask;)

How refreshing to watch and document Samantha & Jesse’s family. In the short time I spent with them I can tell you that they can communicate without speaking and have this presence about them that radiates love and authenticity. I am only so blessed that they allowed me an opportunity to share in the joy of their family <3

Xoxo,

Amber
